Henry V: Historical Fact, or Just a Really Good Play?
Katherine Ingle

“We few, we happy few, we band of brothers”
Henry V, Act IV Scene 3

How can one give a talk that can cover a WWII mini series, magnetics, and shoe buying? By invoking Henry V! Shakespeare’s play has been brought to life by such titans as Sir Laurence Olivier and Sir Kenneth Branaugh in timeless classics that continue to be enjoyed to this day. But how accurate is the bard in teaching us about the Battle of Agincourt? What do his artistic liberties tell us about the time period he was writing in or the audience he was catering to? The hope with this talk is to introduce you to the king who was and bring some (more) Shakespeare into your lives. At the very least, you’ll know when you’ll have an excuse to buy a new pair of shoes.

Spooky Self-Grandparenting (From a Distance): Intermediate Time Travel
Rick Clinite

What’s the best way to stop all the stuff we don’t like in the 20th century from ever happening? Ever since experiments have borne out the notion that time was malleable, physicists have been threading through theoretical frameworks for ways that the universe might offer its particles a second chance to collapse to the wavefunction they knew in their particle-hearts they were capable of. This talk covers the major attempts to break the fundamental dictates of causality that have been established in physics, including recent successes in instant communication within quantum systems and the paradoxes that may prevent the talk itself from taking place.
